Interesting press watch/press bias question:
A few weeks ago, Peace Now held a rally in Tel Aviv, the first since the start of the intifada eighteen months ago. About 12,000 - 15,000 people attended. (Just for comparison, in 1982, 400,000 people attended a Peace Now rally protesting the war in Lebanon.)
The New York Times made a big deal over the rally; front page article, tie-in with the 300 reservists protesting service in the occupied territories; the Left is regaining strength, Sharon's support is crumbling, etc.
The Israeli Right held a rally today in Tel Aviv that about 50,000 - 60,000 people attended (not counting 1,600 security guards), urging a war against the PA.
My question: will the New York Times cover it? if so, how? BTW, I would be glad of info on this question from anyone who reads the Times in print; I only read it on the Internet. |
