Disagree. There are other questions, many other questions for instance:-

Does the VIX have any significance whatsoever to the future direction of the market or is whatever relationship it may have had in the past:-

a. Purely co-incidental
and/or
b. Obtained as a result of morphing , for example allowing the VIX a few days or weeks or months before associating it with a conveniently occuring market event etc. IE bending the VIX to whatever intepretation suited one to help it explain and/or be related to a conveniently located downturn in the market.

I am firmly of the view that with the complextiies of modern markets no historic indicator is predictor of the future direction of the market.
