I am firmly of the view that with the complextiies of modern markets no historic indicator is predictor of the future direction of the market.

The one thing you have to remember is the mania market of the late 1990s was the "modern market". That was the market in which historic indicators did not work well. People were in a mad rush to get everything into stocks that they could---line of credit etc, putting all available cash to join in that incredible wealth creation pyramid.

What we see now is nothing like that period. From that one can deduce that maybe we are going back to a market in which historic indicators will work.

Long the market but cautious.
