If you are grossed out by the sight of a beetle or grasshopper you would be grossed out by the sight of a cockroach. Actually they remind me of a firefly which I am fond of. Not too awful looking simply as appearances go. Until you think about the sickening effects of their infestation, there is no reason to consider them unsightly at all. When you think about how they traffic through all kinds of filth and then your food stuffs, leaving itsy bitsy eggs everywhere by the thousands...well, that might give you some cause for hesitation.
