Hi Dave,

Re: If any Canadian lynx, officially listed as a threatened species, were found in such an area, that locale could come under tough federal rules regulating the habitat of endangered and threatened species.
But there were no lynx in the forests. A group of federal scientists had planted the lynx hairs, endangering a nationwide study

Let's think about this story and what's wrong with the picture. First, the scientists should have been named, and the punishment meted out to them specified in the article.
It's nonsensical, on the face of it, that they would be rewarded if their supervisors were aware of the deception, which would make the supervisors co-conspirators.

Else, it leads one to question if in fact what we have here the handiwork of a "dirty tricks" disinformation campaign. Much like the Office of Strategic Influence was supposed to be. Before Rumsfeld announced its closing. What Rumsfeld failed to mention was one of the prime contractors to the OSI, a PR firm by the name of Hendon & Assoc. as I recall, has not had their contract to create disinfomation and propaganda rescinded and apparently is still working for the War Rackets Department creating false stories to spread in the foreign press.

The truth is getting shredded here, obviously. But by whom is not as clear. Is it the bogey scientists? Or someone with an agenda to discredit the scientists and the Endangered Species Act? Things keep getting curiouser and curiouser...
