You should see it.
From uptown Manhattan, it's absolutely spellbinding: two massive towers of light, visible for scores of miles (a friend sent me email saying that they're visible up in Westchester), standing just slightly north of where the actual towers stood.
My life, and million of other lives, changed immeasurably and forever six months ago today: a sunny, late summer's day that started like thousands of others, and ended steeped in the opposing imageries of brutality and honor; a collision of horrific violence and steadfast courage sufficient to define the start, or end, of an era...I tend to believe both.
Let us forever remember, with reverence and vigilance, September 11th 2001: unthinkable terror, real; its' innocent victims, deceased and surviving; uncommon, uniquely American valor; and the ensuing strength forged in a cauldron of tragedy.
Bill - fellas - this one's for you.
