Nokia Has to Raise Forecast to Underpin Stock, Investors Say

Espoo, Finland, March 12 (Bloomberg) -- Nokia Oyj, the top mobile-phone maker, may have to raise its first-quarter earnings outlook to support a share price that's climbed 23 percent in two weeks on expectations demand will improve, investors said.

``I expect Nokia to raise its earnings guidance for the quarter,'' said Jukka Linden, who helps oversee 2 billion euros ($1.75 billion) at Opstock Securities in Helsinki, including Nokia. ``The stock has recovered from the lows of February.''

Nokia will release a trading statement today at 11 a.m. local time. The Finnish company in January said first-quarter profit will fall as much as 32 percent to between 15 cents and 17 cents a share, with sales sliding as much as 10 percent.
