SAN JOSE, Calif., March 11, 2002 -- Chief executive officers and analysts from the world's leading chip equipment and materials companies will meet at SEMInvest 2002, March 18-19, to discuss the new technologies, companies and markets expected drive the sector's upturn.

"Expanding Horizons – New Technologies, New Markets, New Marketplaces," is this year's theme for the annual investor event to be held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York. SEMInvest, the only technology investor conference that focuses exclusively on the worldwide semiconductor equipment and materials industry, is sponsored by Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), the global industry association for companies that create chip building technologies, materials and services.

"The recent run up in equipment and materials stocks signals anticipation of the pending upturn in the highly cyclic sector," said Stanley T. Myers, SEMI President. "Investors will be in New York to learn about the technology and dynamics of the sector and to survey its current investment prospects."

(Note to editors: For a complete listing of participating companies, please contact SEMI or view the schedule at www.semi.org/web/windex.nsf)
