Tuesday March 12, 1:10 am Eastern Time Serono reintroduces Crinone gel in U.S. GENEVA, March 12 (Reuters) - Serono SA has reintroduced Crinone 8 percent progesterone gel to the U.S. market after a voluntary recall in April 2001, Europe's biggest biotech company said on Tuesday. It said in a statement that Columbia Laboratories Inc (AMEX:COB - news), Crinone's maker, had taken a number of steps to ensure the fertility product met specifications for viscosity. Problems with this had led to the recall last year. Serono, which is the global marketer of Crinone and its distributor in the United States, said it was committed to worldwide marketing of the product but that it and Columbia had not yet settled legal actions between the two firms that arose from the recall.
