All you've done is SUGGEST otherwise. In truth, not only is free trade wholly consistent with long held conservative thought, but you will find that conservatives have been its main backers pretty much forever. Whenever protectionism has been proposed(by whomever), there have always been conservatives railing against it. Conservative writings have stood for free trade for a long, long time...far more than any other writings. Now, that's just the truth.
