Not are we getting older but we are appear to becoming more fiscally irresponsible. Here in Georgia the consumer just won't quit buying. Total tax revenues for Georgia were down 5.3% in February. However, sales tax revenues were up 4.6% and corporate taxes were up 37%. Where did the losses come from? Individual income taxes were down 11% and account for about half of state revenues. People have increased spending but show lower incomes as reflected in the lower income taxes collected. Sounds like a great formula for a strong recovery to me! Not! This was the state's 8th straight decline and Georgia is usually known for having a robust economy.
