commonly, when analyst downgrades or say something negative about the stock, i watch the stock's reaction.. if it doesn't tank, that means some of the news is priced in already.

the above link, over the last 4-7 trading days, at least 2 negative analyst comments. but look at emc chart, didnt breakdown.

of course, nothing is sure thing, but it can show you how much bad news is priced into the stock.
