It's not my nightmare. You're ignoring the importance of having a vital industry, steel. One that is needed for defense.
You cannot just dismiss this in the reality of our world. Textbook economics, and college classes are one thing, and life as we know it, is another. Real vs. the ideal.
Philosophical discussions are nice, but without a steel industry in our country, we are vulnerable. It's as simple as that. Nothing else is relevant, unless they come up with a steel substitute to build tanks, ships, and whatever else they use steel for in the military. Aluminum isn't the answer because aluminum burns.
I'm not arguing about freetrade overall, I am trying to point out that in some matters, pure economics isn't the first priority.
If you cannot see that, I don't know what else to write. |
