Seems to me I can remember when the Shadow Open Market Committee (and whatever became of it?) would get excited when YOY money growth went past 5%. Last I hear, though, Milton Friedman was lauding Greenspan for preventing a depression.

So it's just all us ignorant amateurs who look at 17% money growth and think of South America--or at least Italy (of years ago).
