"Blades Incorporating Intel Xeon Processor MP Technology Configurations Provide Four-way SMP Power in a 1U Form Factor"

>>That's some incredible density. I can't begin to imagine the challenges in providing cooling for such a configuration....

I couldn't find a picture of the Egenera BladeFrame System, but the dimensions are: "24x30x84-inch chassis". Assuming that's width x depth x height, and they package 12 - 1U blades along a horizontal rack, that gives 48 CPUs in that horizontal rack. Another one on top makes 96. That's either one very tall blade, though, or they're "only" doing two racks per chassis. So what's in all the rest of the space? Re-reading, I see there are "Control Blades" in there also for interconnect, disk and I/O. Probably also power supply bricks distributed in each rack. So they probably do only 6 -4 way MPs per rack. They are the first with a 4 way blade MP though.
