>> All you've done is SUGGEST otherwise. <<
ok hotshot, at least i have provided names, dates, quotes. you haven't provided squat. why don't you give us the long laundry list of traditional conservatives who believed in free trade.
>> In truth, not only is free trade wholly consistent with long held conservative thought, <<
i want facts. names, dates, quotes, references?
>> Whenever protectionism has been proposed(by whomever), there have always been conservatives railing against it <<
yes, the neo-conservatives of today. i don't consider them true conservatives in the traditional sense, i consider them sellouts. an example of a true conservative today is an alan keyes or a pat buchanan.
let's see here. republicans like to brag about how they are the party of lincoln. lincoln was clearly in favor of protective tariffs. so i guess if republicans are considered the conservatives of today (fat chance), and they are from the party of lincoln, then how do you reconcile this?
>> Conservative writings have stood for free trade for a long, long time...far more than any other writings. Now, that's just the truth. <<
like i said, put up or shut up.
p.s. this country has moved so far left that simply rational thinking is considered far right wing. |
