I have a brother who, many years ago came down with something I think was called acidosis. He was 3 or 4 years old at the time and was constantly throwing up. It became so severe, that he was finally hospitalized and had to be fed intervenously. After about a week in the hospital, my parents in desperation went to another pediatrician for a second opinion. Of all things, the new guy prescribed "Coke syrup"... the main ingredient in Coca Cola. My brother stopped throwing up.

In those days, you could purchase the stuff from any soda fountain. Today, I think you can still buy it in small cough syrup sized bottles from a pharmacist. If Miriel's condition doesn't improve soon, you might want to check it out. Seems like it can't hurt. I hope she gets better soon.
