The Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope????

I get really irked when politicians get their names stuck on things like bridges, tunnels, highways, airports - and yes, even telescopes - built with public funds. So he's the senator for West Virginia, where the telescope is located, so what?

By all means name the installation for the place where it's located, or posthumously after some astronomer who has made major contributions to the field, or something/someone else relevant, but why the heck should the senior senator from WV get himself immortalized in this way? This is as bad as Washington National Airport getting re-named after Ronald Reagan.
