You can certainly have moral ideas or use language involving morals without bringing God in to it.

Yes, one can. But Bush doesn't. And most Americans don't. For most people, morality is derived from religion. As someone whose morality has nothing to do with God, I almost never use the word, evil. I think that for just about everybody, evil has a religious spin.

Whether religion and morality are tied together or not, neither of them is in the same neighborhood as self interest.
