My guess is it had to do with options expiration...perhaps there was a large OI on the XAU puts/calls? In any event, all the XAU components dropped off sharply at the eod (in contrast to GOLD (and also DROOPY): finance.yahoo.com EDIT: Lo and behold! Max pain on the XAU options is at 60: finance.yahoo.com^xau&d=o All call-holders must be destroyed!<G>
