| Dan, I regret that you took my comments personally, but I suppose you put a lot of yourself into this thread, and it shows with your intelligent comments. However, the one huge beef I have with threads like this is that people like JT101, who is obviously a novice with options, are not properly advised of the very real risks. Everyone likes to share their expertise, and it so oftens seems to be that people are full of positive advice so often that they ignore the fact that they are posting publicly available information that can and DOES lead to serious financial losses on the part of people who don't know better. If people with intelligence and experience are going to take the time to read posts and respond to them, then they should do more than just be cheerleaders for a particular strategy. It was very clear to me from JT101s posts that he was way off base on some of his basic assumptions about short term trading in general, and I still stand by my view that somebody should have put him in the right direction. Two years ago I lost well over six figures when the market tanked, in options strategies that were advised by very well meaning people on threads like this. Each time someone tired to bring a voice of reality to the thread, they were put down. Fortunately my trading skills, honed in fire, have brought me back to even without options. But I don't want to see others have to go through that hell without plenty of fair warning. Options do have their place. But that place is not in the hands of people unless they have truly proved their worth as outstanding stock traders. |
