I am not posting on this site to make a political statement or to protest against AEP or OPG. There are plenty of groups out there that do that. It's true that there is enough coal to last a long time, longer than inexpensive oil and natural gas. We have 20 Candu reactors, 12 working at the moment. Ontario Hydro was about $38 billion in debt when it was broken up.
When President Bush talks about an energy problem, he's right. We need more energy. Canada and the USA can sidestep Kyoto, complain about each other's coal fired plants and summer smog and keep on driving SUV's. But the facts of our energy use

point to the fact that we've got a problem ahead. We should act now, and here in Ontario, we want to develop a new energy source..fusion power. There is a good reason for the United States to get involved and support our project which is called

Not just like it's a interesting science project but because we need this technology.
Ontario has 20 aging nuclear reactors and a few large old coal plants and no guarantee that natural gas will be affordable in the years ahead.
The United States imports more than 50 % of its oil, much from unstable regions and many of the countries conventional and nuclear plants are getting old. Sure there
are some opportunities in alternative energy such as wind and solar. But to replace a lot of these big old plants we could use fusion power.
