Is this story getting much play over there? Your right to self medicate will be taken away and several mom and pop health stores will go under if this is allowed to go through. They're not pushing for an outright ban, but vendors will have to prove that their product is "safe" before being allowed to sell it. The only people who can afford to do the required studies on this are the large (i.e., German) pharmaceutical companies.

NINETY per cent of multi-vitamin and mineral preparations and many other supplements are likely to be removed from the shelves of British health shops and chemists if a European directive becomes law, as many expect it will, on Wednesday.
