We promise we don't want to take away your Constitutional Right to own a gun [because we know we couldn't do that if we tried]. We promise we only want to solve your crime and suicide problems. We promise the registration system is ONLY to keep guns out of the hands of CRIMINALS. We promise we won't tax your guns but we will have to charge annual user fees to support the registration/tracking/licensing infrastructure [but we can't promise it won't go up every year]. We promise the extensive background checks we will need to do on all registerees won't be used as fishing expeditions but of course if we find any "problems" we'll have to alert the FBI, State and local law enforcement officials. We promise we will enter your home only if you invite us [but you can't get your gun if you don't], because we only want to make sure you have a safe place to store your gun. We promise the test we'll make you take will be fair. I'm sure you agree you wouldn't want a guy who can't even hit a one-inch target at 500 yards walking around with a killing machine in his hand. We promise that the paperwork we'll make you fill out will be the absolute minimum of what we need to make sure guns don't get into the wrong hands. But you may want to hire a lawyer to help you. If you screw up, well that would be a crime and I'm sure you agree criminals shouldn't be allowed to own guns. And if you are accused of a crime [and with the banquette of State and Federal laws on the books, who couldn't be], we promise prosecutors won't abuse their discretion and treat you more harshly if our records show you are a gun owner. And if you give away just a LITTLE more of your freedom, and a little of your money to us, we PROMISE you will be safe on the street and in your home. PROMISE!!
