No, the Clariion is storage, the Unisys is a 32 way "Mainframe class" server product. I think this is more of a pragmatic acceptance by DELL that they are not in the market where those products are sold. CPQ and HP, who ARE in that market, also dropped their Unisys reseller deals. The big Unix boxes are still pretty much the only game in that space.


I also don't think customers "think of" Unisys when looking for Intel based servers. It's hard to look past Compaq, Dell, IBM and HP when considering buying those type servers. Of course, Unisys still has the only 32 way, but I think it's looked at as an oddball machine. IBM has the 16 way new 1.6 GHz Xeon coming (available in 8 way now). It will be upgradable to McKinley as well. What does Dell have in the works for "bigger iron" like this?
