OT/Paul & VT. Only 3 guitars right now.

Have a candy apple Strat, that's "a machine"<G> Also an average commercial quality classical.

But, the one I usually play is a Yari, grand concert master. Years ago, the Japanese Alvarez company went into Spain with a lot of cash and hired the best classical guitar craftsmen they could get. They produced the Yari line of instruments. IMO not as good as the best Spanish classicals, but good.

Best Spanish classical I ever played was in a music store in Brussels, Belgium in 1984. (For you history buffs out there, Belgium was a possession of Spain centuries ago and known then as "the Spanish Netherlands") Anyway this guitar was an exquisite instrument with powerful, rich, balanced tone. Even rusty as my technique was at the time, my sloppy rendition of a coupla Bosa Nova tunes sounded great on that guitar. Price was 2 grand. But I should have bot it.

My Yari is about 15 years old. Tone aging nicely. Very good volume balance from string to string. By contrast, most commercial grade instruments voice good volume on a few strings while others are weak. Balance is important as overall tone and volume.

My big problem is so little time to play, AND most of my old jammin' chums who would encourage me to play are spread out all over the map. To bad you guys don't live closer. Would be great to sit down and play some stuff with you.

Maybe we should come up with a "Jam Plan" to celebrate $350 gold and $5 NG.<VBG>

Whaddaya think?!
