Life is more complex than that. The "deal" if there is one, doesn't even have to have been planned in advance. It could be that this was a surprise, and now the war needs a little help. Keep the bad guy on ice, he may be useful. It's been done before, my friend, and by another Bush. He went after Saddam. And then.... stopped. And put him on ice. We didn't need any authorizations by the UN, any more than we've needed them this time. If you think young W is in charge, you are on a different plane of cognition. It's the same-old, same-old.
