Lutheran leader says Bush should create 'axis of love'
By DOUGLAS TODD
Religion News Service

Instead of threatening the countries in the so-called "axis of evil" _ Iraq, Iran and North Korea _ President Bush should be working to create an "axis of love," says the president of the 60-million-member Lutheran World Federation.
Bishop Christian Krause strongly criticized Bush on Tuesday for what he called his over-simplified attempt "to divide the world so easily into good and bad guys." Krause said Bush's approach will "only spread violence and create new violence."

It was one of the sharpest reproaches of the president by a top religious leader since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
