Looks like there really is not much going on today since there is an old fashioned school boy food fight
going on. I remember enjoying those as a kid but always got my ass whomped, by folks at home whether
it happened at home or at school. In the meantime we just watch the lemmings run.
Interesting conversation with Michael at MJPM, gold coin dealer in Corvalis OR today, a gold dealer with thin spreads. During January and February they had record sales, but now their business has dropped to bottom levels. Looking at a couple of web surveys and reading local and national news gives me opinion that by and large the people of the USA have largely put 9/11 behind them, and of course Battafuklia and crew keep urging us
to buy these bargain stocks. The article in Time this week puts forth the case that war with Iraq within the year
is reasonably assumable to be a forgone conclusion. Can anyone see event risk in this market?
After selling out to the steel interests in Michigan, etc, with tarrifs and then selling out to the Hispanic vote in forgiving alien status for all illegal aliens Bush now has to reckon with the the colossal embarassment of visas
for the WTC bombers being approved now. I thought until now that he had been doing a fairly credible
job with a huge set of problems of historic proportions. I see no bargains in any stocks, even most of the golds
I own/follow now up to fully valued positions, that is until the next event, combustive or Japanese in origin.
So with that as a background for the day what better frivlolity than a food fight? I am enjoying it boys, only with
half a mind. The big game is still to come. "What rough beast, its hour now come round at last, slouches its
way toward Bethlehem to be born?" (W.B. Yeats, "The Second Coming")
There is not a fundamentalist christian cell in my body and I am repulsed by such notions as those mad ravings
by a man supposedly named John in Book of Revelatons. But the impossibilities of solutions apparent in the mid-east give one pause for thought regarding synchronicity, might they not?
Sorry folks, just rambling, as nothing medical to report today and thank heavens, it looks like we have enough smallpox vaccine in a pinch after all, and I believe Faucci to be an honest scientist. And no airborne ebola yet.
Keep wondering if Jack Welch managed the fundamental proprieties of GE Capital Management better than he did with his female interviewers...hmmm
