Huh, John... that's only because impartial observers have been saying for years that the brokerage firm are no more than investing banking whores. During one survey in 2000, over 97% of analysts' recommendations were buys. Now, you're telling me that 97 percent of all equities are worth buying? Fat chance.

So yes, there have been some more downgrades recently. But it's only because the brokerage firms now realize that if they don't clean house themselves (Chinese Wall, my ass) then Congress will step in and do the dirty work for them. The indictment of Andersen today by the Justice Department should sent a very clear message to corporations that investors are pretty pissed and looking for blood. No more looking the other way for white collar criminals so that they can support their Hampton summer homes.
