I looked up the book and the reviews and they are almost all the same, as if the review was sent out by the NRA.

The mainstream press takes a more balanced view.

It would seem this book is a particular sore spot with the NRA.

In a typical report to Congress, the secretary of war complained in 1838 that "when mustered, a majority of (the militia) are armed with walking canes, fowling pieces, or unserviceable muskets."
