that unusually warm weather in the U.S. Great Plains will accelerate evaporation of soil moisture as crops emerge from winter dormancy.

I always thought the UK got the same weather as the USA a week or two later. That is very much the case most of the time. You can see in this satellite sequence. There is a general SW wind blowing NE over the whole USA and over the Atlantic to the UK.

The warmer air can pick up more moisture then normal going over the Atlantic. We usually get about 90 inches of rain here per annum. That's up 150% to 250% locally. The winter has been very mild. The continent has been colder then usual, high pressure systems abound. So the low pressure systems coming over from the USA have been deep and violent. Very strong winds, about 30% of the buildings around here are still getting their roofs fixed.

You can see the next storm brewing in the satellite sequence. It's a stumper. Here is the pressure map.

Not much to do with commodities, I know, but people I read on the boards have their heads planted firmly in the sand weather wise. (i.e they think it can't change. They are in denial about some pretty convincing graphs imho. Doesn't matter whether it's man made or natural) If the weather changes....things like food could become real important.
