Hagel's GSE concerns have a partisan tone to them. He'd be best off trying to get a confederate in the House to look into this. But the problem he'll run into there is the same one he runs into with Sarbanes. No one in charge (Greenspan, O'Neill, Sarbanes, CFTC or SEC) wants to open the derivatives Pandora's Box. It would expose the entire rotten underbelly of the system.
