lorne, "mohammed could neither read nor write" Just a bit of information, I ran into that is interesting, this Quran verse: 007.158 PICKTHAL: Say (O Muhammad): O mankind! Lo! I am the messenger of Allah to you all - (the messenger of) Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and He giveth death. So believe in Allah and His messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write, who believeth in Allah and in His Words, and follow him that haply ye may be led aright. Some modern day scholars have started to accept the term "Gentile Prophet" more accurately than "The illiterate prophet" in verse 7:158 for the term "Al Nabi Al Ummi". I do not know Arabic so I can't confirm or deny! Just thought it might be interesting to some..... God Bless, IGIT
