Teacher's Aide Charged In Rape of Blind Boy By Steven Kreytak newsday.com March 14, 2002, 12:29 PM EST A Hicksville teacher’s aide has been arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree rape for having sex with an 11-year-old legally blind student she tutored and befriended, Nassau police said. Eighth Precinct Commander Det. Lt. Vincent Robustelli said Kathy Tuifel, 44, of 143 Lee Ave., Hicksville, worked at the Hicksville Middle School and had developed a relationship with the boy, whose identity was not released by police. The alleged rapes occurred between January and March, he said, and took place at Tuifel's home. She is to be arraigned in Hempstead this afternoon.
