Funny thing about culture. When people age, they look at the younger generation as lacking culture. Been that way for thousands of years...no older generation ever says, "Hey, you know, our kids are more cultured than we were".
America's views on tolerance, civil rights, and government responsibility have progressed steadily since the '60s. Women's rights, racial tolerance, religious acceptance, holding government responsible for it's actions, have all improved since the '60s. Sometimes, in our media-saturated state, it's hard to see any improvement, but it is clearly there. |
