My $.04: 1) I've heard of too many "Miataplegics": folks who got in an accident in a convertible and are now wheeled heads. All convertibles have this flaw, except possibly the Mercedes SLs with their auto-deploying rollbars. 2) The Fiat Spider is one of the least crashworthy designs on the road. Tap a telephone pole, and wear the engine as a miniskirt. Ugh. I'd get something with a roof, self-tensioning three-point belts and crush zones. Antilock's a nice touch too. For some whoopie, how'bout a Nissan SE-R or the little Bimmer 318ti?
