Elmer, Jew or Jewish is not derogatory alone, but jew controlled is. A lot depends on the context. As with anything associated with races etc those from that race have permission to use terms that we do not(witness the many black and jewish comic acts that do this, where we would be pilloried if we said the same thing).
The same holds for all the other racial epithets.

Now I can see that Gottfreid accidentally ran afoul of good useage and I am quite willing to forgive and forget such an infrequent occcurrance.
