Handguns are made specifically to kill human beings. If people also enjoy shooting targets and game with them, it merely shows that they are enthralled with these weapons. Hunting is much more practical with non-handguns.

Yes, I believe that limiting specific 'freedoms' is necessary to ensure the safety of our society. I like the fact that you cannot own a nuke, radioactive material, biological weapons, etc. If we had been more careful with biological agents, the anthrax tragedy would not have occurred (as I believe it will come out that it was not Islamic terrorist, but right wing terrorists). Limiting freedoms to ensure safety is a well accepted practice.
