I don't distinguish criminal intent or using pools as a weapon, just like you include accidental gun deaths and suicides in your analysis and argument.

Do you contend that no one has ever been intentionally drowned in a swimming pool? I don't believe it. Better start deciding what you're going to plant in your newly-recovered yard.

Finally, you're not campaigning to make guns safer, you're campaigning for their abolition. I'll maintain my position vis-a-vis pools. You can't guarantee swimming pools' absolute safety, and it's clear from my previous source that children are victims of swimming pool violence in grotesquely disproportionate numbers, so much so that private swimming pools ought to be banned. Call in the contractors. Nice try, though.
