You're right. We should have declined Hitler's offer to duke it out. If we didn't, we'd have to deal with those annyong Nazi fanatics when we won, the problem of Germany would have been ours at the end of war, we would have had to keep troops in Europe for years, possibly decades, and we would have had to support and prop up European gov'ts for a long time.

Good thing we didn't get involved in that.
