Good points. To wit: The two armed students who stopped the western Virginia law student who went on a rampage and killed three.

On your other point: Anybody with access to a hardware store could easily fashion a zip gun in an evening, with information readily available on the web. Guns have been manufactured literally for hundreds of years, many with much more primitive and unreliable materials than you could find at your hardware store.

I guess we'll have to outlaw hardware stores, along with guns and swimming pools.
