The tax code is a cumulative result of many elections over time, reflecting the majority opinion of all those involved in forming it. The influence of special interests notwithstanding, if representatives clearly and repeatedly violated the will of those they represent, they would be replaced. Hence, the tax code we have is the one we all voted for.
