Re: He gave away the Panama Canal! Ridiculous. We may well have stolen it fair and square in Roosevelt's term. But, Carter was just trying to get out of the maintenance contracts. And the Canal was rapidly becoming obsolete because of the changing nature of ocean container ship and tanker design.
