Re: YOu got your history wrong. We didn't steal it. We built it. I nonconcur. I believe I know much more about this than you apparently do. We forced a war on Columbia, partitioned Panama in 1903 and then secured the rights to Canal Zone the following year from French interests. It was all perfectly blatant and expected in the age of imperialism. The Columbians were recalcitrant about our effort earlier on, so we sent in the Marines to create a malleable puppet state. Yes, we did take over the construction from the bankrupted Frenchman, De Lesseps, and we did in fact build the canal across land that 10 years previously had been part of Columbia. Leading to decades of jealousy and resentment of Norte Americanos in the region.
