Premenos Ships Latest Desktop Version of PREMO Templar Opening New Opportunities for Internet Commerce
CONCORD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 8, 1997--Premenos Technology Corp. (NASDAQ:PRMO) today announced the release of PREMO(TM) Templar(R) Desktop v3.0 for Windows 95 or Windows NT Workstations.
This version brings the increased performance provided by 32 bit Windows applications to the PC desktop. Joining the UNIX and NT versions of Templar, Desktop v3.0 rounds out the scalability of the Templar product by providing the ability to perform secure EDI over the Internet from the desktop to the data center.
Templar Desktop works in conjunction with any desktop EDI translator to manage and transport EDI documents quickly, reliably and securely over TCP/IP networks. ``This creates a compelling package for delivering Internet EDI to the desktop,'' said David Raye, vice president of operations for TSI. ``TSI is excited about coupling TSI's Trading Partner PC/32, the first full 32-bit PC-based EDI translation product, with 32 bit Templar Desktop.''
TSI Software, a leader in the PC-based EDI translation market and a Strategic Alliance partner of Premenos, resells Templar.
Staples, one of the nation's largest office supply chains and a Premenos customer, views EDI as a critical part of their supplier program and as an essential cost saving measure to keep prices competitive.
``Templar Desktop will enable us to roll out our Internet based EDI solution to a majority of our trading partners,'' said Paul Dowd, senior EDI technical specialist for Staples. ``Templar Desktop is easy to use and it supports Microsoft Exchange, our corporate standard for email, as well. The value add for the given price is exceptional.''
``Premenos defined the marketplace for Internet EDI with the groundbreaking release of Templar in May 1995,'' said Greg Vesper, director of product marketing for Templar at Premenos. ``Templar was built on open systems standards and demanding customer requirements and is currently supporting more than a hundred customers doing millions of dollars of transactions daily.''
