the problem comes in when someone feels the need to tell that person they are now on 'ignore'

The biggest problem I have with the ignore feature is that it can distort discussions. I've found myself trying to make a point with someone and a third party, who doesn't have the good feel for the discussion because he has my discussion-partner on ignore, pops in and ruins my momentum or the point that I right on the verge of getting across. People think that when they put others on ignore, they just affect the two parties, but they can affect bystanders, as well.

I have used the feature a few times, usually for those who waste my time blathering non sequiturs. It's useful for that.
