Milo, I am not talking about steppings. I am talking about the IPC improvements. We have to take into account the fact that the P4 will get more cache shortly after the Clawhammer intro. Unless AMD is content having the performance crown for 1 quarter, they'd better be prepared to crank the frequency. Think about it. If NW does 3Ghz and Prescott gets 30-50% higher that would mean 3.9-4.5Ghz cpus by the end of 2003 and higher IPC because of the 1MB cache. So Clawhammer would have to clock at least 3Ghz to stay competitive. To gain marketshare it would have to be above Prescott performance which means it would need 3.5Ghz or so. Can AMD be at that number at the end of 2003? I want to see their projections, roadmap, etc.
