re: the IPOs

AJ -- I read in today's LA Times that the Travellers IPO will be one of the 10 biggest in US history, so, while 6 billion (Travellers plus Alcon) might not be huge, it's also not insignificant.

As a GE shareholder by birth, I kinda like GE getting money while it's "cheap." Hey, even if rates do come back, this is historically cheap. That said. . .61 billion, a spinoff AND increasing bank lines makes me scratch my head and say "there is trouble here." The question, of course, is whether GE is really acting proactively to weather any trouble, or whether the weathering is too little too late. I don't have a clue, in all honesty, but it'll certainly be interesting to watch over the next few years.
