The Time Machine....what a disappointment. Guy Pearce who was fabulous in Memento and Count of Monte Cristo seemed wispy and gaunt in this sorry remake. Directed by Simon Wells, HG Wells' great grandson, it fails to evoke any empathy or interest in the characters, who were actually peripheral to the special effects, which are not that great. Jeremy Irons' cameo as a villainous, whitewashed Morlock couldn't save this tripe. When he grimaced, his makeup cracked over his wrinkles. Unacceptable!!! The special effects seen in the trailer on tv or in your local theatre were the cream of that barren crop. Spoiler: building condos on the moon is ill-advised. I rate this a 4. That might be too high.
